Trueu club is dedicated to providing quality food to the local community in Botany, Sydney. With cost of living rising exponentially, we're providing the basics to those who need it to survive and provide for their families in this tough time.

COST OF FOOD
Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices have risen steadily, contributing to living cost pressures. Inflation pushed a $120 fruit basket to $131.44 in the last year, a 9.53% jump. Vegetables saw a 7.92% increase, with a $150 basket now costing $161.89. Households cut grocery spending by 6% from November 2023 to 2024, reflecting a desperate bid to cope with these essentials outpacing wage growth.
COST OF UTILITIES
Energy bills offer mixed news. Electricity prices plummeted 17.9% by August 2024 thanks to government rebates, easing quarterly costs to $393. Yet, without rebates, electricity spiked 32%, and gas soared 34% since May 2022. For 27% of Aussies, these volatile utility costs fuel financial stress, exposing the fragility of relief measures.
INCOME & WAGES
Annual wage growth hit 4.1% by August 2024, the highest in 15 years, with a median weekly earnings of $1,396 ($40/hour). Yet, the average income of $100,016 lags far behind the $307,000 Aussies say they need to feel rich. With inflation at 2.4% to December 2024, real buying power remains squeezed for many.
COST OF LIVING
The cost of living rose 2.4% over the year to December 2024, down from 2.8% in September, per the CPI. Employee households faced a steeper 4.0% hike, driven by a 14.7% mortgage interest surge. Pensioners saw a modest 2.5% rise, but regional disparities and untracked costs hint at a tougher reality than stats suggest.
